What is Inspire Therapy?
Inspire Therapy is an implantable device that works comfortably inside your body to help you breathe easily and sleep soundly. For people with obstructive sleep apnea, the tongue relaxes into a position that blocks the airway and interrupts breathing throughout the night. Instead of using a mask and a hose to force air through your airway, the Inspire implant sends gentle pulses to move your tongue forward, keeping your airway open.
How does Inspire Therapy work?
In a minimally invasive surgical procedure, the small device is placed under the skin, where it stimulates the nerve while monitoring your breathing. Within a few days after the procedure, you will be able to resume non-strenuous activity and return to work shortly thereafter, as recommended by your doctor. Approximately one month following the procedure, your physician will activate the device and guide you through using the Inspire remote to find the right settings. You can use the Inspire app to track your sleep goals and share the data with your doctor to ensure your sleep settings are just right for you.
How do I know if Inspire is right for me?
Inspire Therapy is a solution for adults that:
- Are 18 years or older
- Have been diagnosed with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea
- Have tried and struggled using CPAP
