We offer the convenience of in-house CT Scanning at seven
locations: West Ashley, Summerville, South Mt. Pleasant, North Mt. Pleasant,
North Charleston, Moncks Corner and Goose Creek. Charleston ENT & Allergy has achieved national accreditation by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission of Computed Tomography Laboratories (IAC) for our CT scanners, among the first 500 CT laboratories in North America to earn this recognition for high quality patient care and diagnostic technology.

Prior to the office-based CT scanners, patients would often
see a physician on their first visit and need to return for a consultation
after an imaging study was performed elsewhere. Our in-house CT scans enable us
to initiate consultation, obtain the CT scan when necessary, and develop a
definitive treatment plan in the same visit. For example, a CT scan is often
needed to diagnose and more accurately treat chronic sinus problems and can be
performed with this technology in less than a minute.

Information from the CT scan can then be forwarded through
our network telecommunication system to any of our seven offices and/or a
radiologist. It can also be sent directly to the operating room for reference
during surgery.

We know our patients’ time is valuable. This is one example
of how we strive to provide efficient, high-quality care for their ear, nose or
throat illnesses.

Our MiniCAT scanners are small, upright CT scanners that
create fast, exceptional quality images of the sinuses and ears. MiniCAT scans
have significantly lower radiation dose than sinus and ear scans taken on a
full-body CT scanner.Because our MiniCAT scanner is located in our office, your
doctor can take your CT scan during your office visit.

Neck & Thyroid Ultrasound

Ultrasound scanning or sonography involves exposing part of
the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the
body. An ultrasound scan does not use ionizing radiation (x-ray). Diagnostic
ultrasound and ultrasound guided biopsies of the neck and thyroid are done in
our West Ashley office by a board certified interventional radiologist and a
certified sonographer.

Ultrasound & Ultrasound Guided Biopsy

This procedure used ultrasound to guide a tiny needle into a thyroid or other neck nodule.Cells are removed through this tiny needle and sent to the lab for diagnosis. The procedure takes about 30 minutes using only local anesthesia.I causes minimal discomfort, little or no bruising, and requires no stitches.
