Meet Dr. Bossert

Meet Dr. Bossert, MD

Ronald P Bossert, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in aesthetic plastic surgery of the body and face, with particular expertise in plastic surgery following weight loss.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Dr. Bossert graduated cum laude from Haverford College with a BA in Biology. He received his medical training at the University of Rochester, where he was awarded the prestigious OME grant for basic science research. Upon graduation, he was selected as one of less than 100 national graduates to pursue dedicated plastic surgery training at the University of Rochester’s integrated plastic surgery residency program.

Following this 5-year training program, he was chosen to serve as a fellow in body contouring surgery after weight loss at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. This prestigious year-long fellowship selects one graduate nationally annually to serve under the guidance of world-renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Peter Rubin, MD. He brings the knowledge and experience gained at UPMC to Charleston to serve as the region’s only plastic surgeon with this level of advanced training in body contouring surgery following weight loss.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a “nose job,” is the ideal solution to a number of nasal issues and the reasons behind the surgery are often as unique as the patients themselves. Some patients have sustained sports injuries or car accidents. Others are frustrated by chronic breathing problems, while others would have rather inherited their mother’s blue eyes than the bump on her nose.

Nose jobs typically fall into one of the following categories:

  • Cosmetic: to improve facial aesthetics or proportions
  • Combination: cosmetic and function
  • Functional: to repair a deviated septum or nasal valve, improve snoring, etc.
  • Revision: to correct a previous rhinoplasty
